Why The Financial Times says we’re changing the world

2017 was another incredible year for Unbabel as we continued our mission to become the world’s translation layer.

From the launch of Unbabel Video, being recognised by TechCrunch for our work with refugees and being named one of Lisbon’s tech companies to watch by Wired.

Then, The Financial Times featured us in its report on the 50 Ideas To Change The World.

For us this reinforces something we have always believed. As technology has made many facets of the the world seem smaller, language remains the last major blocker for global trade and cooperation.

That’s why at Unbabel we’ve made it our mission to break down this barrier, and we’ve raised another $23m to do it.

Combining proprietary AI and machine learning with the power of 55,000 human translators, to give enterprises, NGOs and governments access to two-way, real time communication in over 28 languages.

But while this endorsement is a real honour, we know we’re just getting started on this mission.

Expect to hear a lot more from us this year, whatever language you speak.
