António Lopes

Junior Research Scientist

António Lopes is a Junior Research Scientist at Unbabel working on multiple challenges of Machine Translation. He finished his MSc in Computer Engineering from the University of Lisbon with a specialisation in Intelligent Systems and Robotics. Prior to joining Unbabel, he was a visiting student at Carnegie Mellon University under Professor Graham Neubig's supervision; and a junior research scientist at INESC-ID working on unsupervised event extraction. At Unbabel, his main focus lies on new methods to improve MT systems for Unbabel's use cases; he was also part of the winning teams of the WMT19 Quality Estimation and APE tracks.
