Daan van Stigt is a Junior Research Scientist at Unbabel. He holds a MSc degree in Logic from the Institute for Logic, Language and Computation at the University of Amsterdam, where he specialized in machine learning and natural language processing. His thesis developed neural language models that induce latent syntactic structure, and was supervised by Wilker Aziz. He enjoys teaching and was a volunteer at the 2019 Lisbon Machine Learning Summer School (LxMLS). Outside of Unbabel he can be found on the waves of Carcavelos or climbing the cliffs of Cascais—or just reading a book. At Unbabel, Daan currently works on quality estimation of machine translation.
