Miguel Vera

Junior Research Scientist

Miguel is a Junior Researcher at Unbabel working on Quality Estimation. He concluded his MSc in Computer Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico with a thesis on 'Interpreting Deep Neural Networks using Backpropagation'. Before moving into the field of Deep Learning, he had been working on cyber-sec and distributed systems having created a small startup around Authentication as a service. At Unbabel he works on pushing the boundaries of Quality Estimation and helps maintain the open-source OpenKiwi. Besides computers, Miguel shares a love for people and presenting, he regularly hosts the Unbabel weekly All-Hands and has presented at conferences such as Open Source Lisbon and MT Marathon.
